ZGS Racing Team announce their entry into the WSRC!

11.02.2004 - Today, the ZGS Racing Team announced that they would be taking part in the 2005 WSRC campaign. Favored to be one of the top teams, with drivers Michael Adenekan and Michel Lerenard, this duo will be quite the competition.

When asked, "Who do you see as your biggests rivals for the 2005 campaign?" A few teams gave the following responses:

Orange Arrows - The B.A.C.R. team, as well as ZGS Racing. Their drivers are pretty fast!

Team Porsche - I see ZGS Racing and B.A.C.R. as probably our biggest rivals. Both teams have very solid drivers in both cars. But I can't count out a team like Arrows. Rocha is a fast driver as well and if he can find a teammate, he will be right there.

With seven teams now signed and 12 drivers ready to go, there is plenty of competition for the inagural season.

Teams speak out about the comming season!

11.03.2004 - With the 2005 Season approaching, we asked some of the teams to express their opinions on the coming of the inagural season and where they see themselves. Here is what they had to say.

Team Orange Arrows - I hope we can get as many points as possible and be in the fight for the championship since the beginning. However, with the test sessions, we can see things change a little bit, or even a lot, if we don't manage to develop our car in the right way. We see ourselves fighting for the championship with the best drivers!

Team MS - We are looking forward to it, but we are not happy with the fact that we have to wait so long between every race. We see ourselves fairly competitive, both our pilots are new to F1 but we are fast learners.

Team Porsche - I think it's going to be a fantastic season with a lot of competition. It will ultimately come down to who has the fastest setups and the most consistent drivers. Our progress in testing and development will give us more of an understanding of where we will be, but I'm hopefull that we come out as one of the top teams.

These are only some of the views and hopefully we can here from the other teams before the season begins. For the time being, the emphasis appears to be on development.

Team MS switch engine supliers!

11.04.2004 - Team MS announced that they were switching engine suppliers from Renault to Mercedes. Gabriel Solorzano, team owner and driver had the following to say, "Well my co-driver and I came to realize that we are both new drivers, and any horsepower we can manage to get is good enough, it seemed like a logic move to move upward a bit, but not that much so we still have some funds for develpment, in case we dont get positive results in the first race."

Team Orange Arrows rencently switched fuel manufactures, from Mobil 1 to Petrobras for reasons of brand loyalty and to promote other fuel manufactures. This decision led to the additional fuel manufactures in Petrobras and Elf fuels.

Changes in the race weekend schedule!

11.04.2004 - Siting concerns from drivers, the WSRC have made changes to the race weekend schedule to allow drivers more time to submit their hotlaps. Qualifiying times can now be submitted from Wednesday 12am to Friday by midnight and race times from Thursday 12am to Saturday by midnight.

WSRC President, Lonnie King said, "We want to promote the best opportunity for every driver. If we alienate some drivers by having such a strick set of rules like we did, it could send the series in a downward spiral before it even got started and that's not what we want."

Team Orange Arrows shakes down the A25B prototype!

11.04.2004 - Before the pre-season start at the Albert-Park circuit, in Melbourne, Australia, the Orange Arrows BMW team is developing a prototype of what could be the race model for late 2005, the Arrows A25B. The designers of the car were at Barcelona today testing the new chassis of the car. The cheif designer had this to say: "We've been desing a new car since the old one has had recently problems with the cooling system. However this new car is still in the 'test part', and we'll hardly see it racing".

Rocha, who drove the test car, said: "This car is pretty fast. We were able to set an unofficial lap time of 1:16.340, what shows us that the car has the potential to be right in the front fighting with the best teams and the best drivers. However, this car still has a lot of problems, like every new car does. We are losing the rear end in the exit of fast corners and we still have to work a lot in the aerodynamics, what makes this project a dream hard to become true.

"We're still learning a lot from the car, but if the development on it continues the way it is, I'm sure it will become much better. I even heard that the team is planning to design the A25C...

"Developing wasn't allowed today, but we were able to push the car to its limits, showing that we are taking the initial season of the WSRC seriously. However, I hope we find a second driver soon, otherwise we won't be able to fight for the Constructors' Title."

11.04.2004 - A new design was brought today out by team owner and driver Russ Sampson. Sampson said: "The design of the last chassis was different but did not reflect the teams ambitions. This design, I hope will reflect our ambition of become the top team in the World Championships later in the year." Sampson also added that he is still looking for a potential second driver: "Someone new to the GP4 world would be great. I want to have a young potential building team"

Team Clownpaint also brought out their new car today. Jack Basford said, "I wasn't sure about the old livery it wasn't quite the image we were going for. I want our car to stand out on the grid, but not look tacky, I think what we have now is exactly what I wanted to see. It has just the right blend of individuality while remaining professional, im especially fond of the new clown heads on the nose cone and side pods."

Clownpaint F1 Run First Test of New Chassis!

11.05.2004 - The cP-05 ran its initial test today at interlagos, brazil. The car managed some very impressive times ranging from low 1:13's to low 1:14's.

Jack Basford: "I was simply amazed with what I got out of this car today, I was able to consistently be in the 13's and I know thats more than a competitive pace, thats race winning pace. The great thing is, I felt it had another few tenths or maybe even a second in it if I was able to get the lap spot on. I am now very excited for the forthcoming practice race and the first GP of the season at this track. I also tested an earlier version of the car at Melbourne last week and it managed a 1:25.3** which is again extremely competitive, I look forward to seeing what Reece can do with it. We will try and arrange a test for him some time this week."

Times coming down!

11.11.2004 - As the teams prepare for the 2005 season, track practice is heating up! Many teams posting times that better the real world track records. " I don't think anyone is ready to lay down and let another team beat them." said Lonnie King, Porsche team owner and driver. "It's very competitive, but there is still one clear cut driver who is outpacing everyone. My thought is if luck doesn't change, for some teams, Henrique Rocha, of team Arrows, could single handidly capture both the drivers title and the constructors title for next year. We've really got to step up our game. Since ZGS Racing announced their demise, that's one less, extremely competitive team that could take points from him. We can't blame him for being blistering fast. We have to all find pace."

King continued, "Team B.A.C.R. is probably the team that has the best shot at Team Arrows. With driver, team Owner, Andrew Claybrook. Both Claybrook and Rocha, have been having a heated battle to see who has the fastest Monaco time, and I am the first to admit, attaining the times they clocked is going to be a huge undertaking! Lets not forget that Dalby is finding his own pace as well."

King further explains, "If Michael Adenekan, can regroup and can bring another team to the table, the balance of power will be back!" We need seriously competitive drivers in this searies. I have faith that Team Porsche can attain better times but until then, we have look at the ultimate possibility, that 2005 could be Rocha's for the taking! But keep in mind, that we really cannot count out any team. These are just my preliminary thoughts and other teams may have different views."

"We did some preliminary laps at the Nerburgring, where we bettered our times buy almost five seconds, over that of the times placed with the P05A (Formerly the F05). The car shows exceptional speed and I feel this package will give us a better edge come the begining of the season."

Team Porsche, poised for a strong showing!

11.18.2004 - Many teams are practicing and improving their times. But team Porsche, has been making considerable improvements that could land them in strong contention for the WSRC world title. King states, "With our P05A we've done pretty well and things have been strong, and with the P05B things have gotten much better. I've done most of the testing so far on the P05B as there has only bee one car as of yet. But Finlay will be getting his hands on it by the end of this week or early next week, to see what he can do with it. I'm very happy with our progess!"

Finlay, has done well with the P05A and can't wait to sit in the updated car. "At this stage, it is true I havent had the mileage in the car yet, I've completed a few installation laps on various tracks, the problem that afflicts me is the inferior controls and time is an issue, I've been very busy of late. I'm looking to improve the controls, hopefully an upgraded steering wheel within the next few weeks. im looking foward to having some runs in the car, the first official test is on december 1st, so I expect team porsche to be competitive, lonnie is doing some excellent times which will motivate me to improve my game. we've some developments planned through-out the year which will ensure our competitiveness. for the season ahead, my personal goal is simply to be competitive and score as many points as possible."

With the introduction of the P05B, on November 17th, the team has shown that it can be nearly as fast as Team Arrows own Henrique Rocha, at Nerburgring, with a time just about 1.4 seconds slower and as King puts it, "I'm sure with more testing that time will go down. That car is new and fresh to us, so with a little experience behind the wheel, we can improve even further."

Team Arrows A25B!

11.23.2004 -"After 2 weeks of intense work, Team Orange Arrows announces that the A25B will be taking part in the late 2005 World Sim Racing Championship. "We're very proud to announce that the A25B project is almost finished", says Rocha. "Further developments on it will be done, but this car is much better than the idea we had a few weeks ago. We don't have that problem of losing the rear end at the exit of fast corners anymore, but of course work can't stop now."

Team Orange Arrows also announced today that its drivers' tests have been increased a lot in the last few days. "With the new car almost done, both my teammate and me are seeing interesting improvements on our times. Glanville had massive times updates when we introduced him to the A25 & the A25B. His times went down almost 2 seconds at some tracks, making both me and the team surprised. For sure his determination helped more than the car, but I'm glad to see that he found his way with the team."

Brian Glanville, who recently joined Team Orange Arrows, said: "Over the last week, I've been running test sessions on 2 European circuits and at our home track in S„o Paulo, and the results for me have been absolutely fabulous. The car is very competitive and with some tweaking of the setups, my mechanics have been able to help me improve my times considerably bringing me into contention for points.

"I've been buoyed by the achievements and raw speed of my teammate Henrique and both the team and his support has really helped me to settle in here in my new team. I'm hoping that we can really challenge for the constructors and drivers championship this year."

When asked about his strategy for 2005, Rocha gave a few words: "We're gonna practice even more than we're already practicing. As Lonnie King, Team Porsche owner and driver said, no one is ready to lay down and let another team beat them. We won't let any team beat us with ease. Brian and me are planning an intense testing schedule, even before the pre-season starts. I noticed that the setups we use can be improved, so our times can be even lower than the ones we're already doing."

After these words, Rocha and the entire Orange Arrows BMW team took a flight to S„o Paulo, where the team restarted the A25 (former A23E, but with massive upgrades) testing and aerodynamics development at their home track, the Autůdromo Josť Carlos Pace, and also for some publicity shots, as the team is now complete. There is news that Team Orange Arrows is really concerned in the pre-season tests."
